Marking the close of its 150th anniversary celebrations, Audemars Piguet has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Le Brassus. Named L’Arc, this 23,700 m2 building brings together under one roof all employees who were previously spread across several sites in the Vallée de Joux. Designed with flexibility, comfort and sustainability in mind, this Minergie-ECO-certified building actively supports the watchmaker’s development.
Designed by Giuli & Portier architects and built by Entreprise Totale Alpenda, the project took three years to complete. The building can accommodate nearly 700 employees in an environment conducive to interaction, reinforcing the family spirit driving Audemars Piguet. Characterised by open spaces, glass partitions and numerous common areas, it promotes communication, creative synergies and innovation.
The electrochromic glass facades provide natural light and constant contact with the surrounding Nature, while protecting occupants from heat and sunlight. Thanks to the combination of real-time predictive data (weather, location and cloud cover), the glazing adapts throughout the day according to light levels, glare, energy use and colour rendering.
Poised to support future brand growth, the centralised production site will gradually allow for an increase in production capacity thanks to an optimised workflow and state-of-the-art facilities. Automated solutions designed to eliminate certain manual tasks will enable more employees to focus on those requiring dexterity and expertise.
The Arc is equipped with a centralised storage system designed to streamline stock management and improve efficiency. Making optimal use of limited space, this GTP (Goods-to-Person) system uses shuttles to deliver components and parts to the appropriate workshops. Standing 15 metres high and fitted with 66 robots, this automated tool can perform up to 350 movements per hour (1,200 by 2030).
Combining heritage and forward-looking vision, ancestral know-how and cutting-edge technology, this new building marks a significant milestone for Audemars Piguet and reflects its deep roots in the Vallée de Joux.
