Since 2016, the Canton of Jura and the bepog project (new.bepog.ch) have been working together to organise company visits for secondary school teachers as part of the “Teachers meet companies” programme.
The most recent visit – involving the participation of around 20 teachers as well as representatives from the training and career guidance departments – took place the Cartier Manufacture in Glovelier. The visitors were welcomed by Christophe Ruedin, Managing Director of Manufactures Cartier Horlogerie, and his teams.
The Canton of Jura is home to many industrial companies that greatly contribute to the international reputation of Swiss quality and Swiss Made. Many of them develop high value-added products and cutting-edge technologies that are recognised around the world. They rely on unique expertise and a highly skilled workforce.
The teaching staff thus had the opportunity to discover the unique alliance between craftsmanship and industry cultivated by Cartier. Although the industry is cyclical and the current context does not inspire optimism, this encounter served to demonstrate that technical professions are those that have both a future and high potential, as well as being to allcomers regardless of gender.
