Bulgari unveils two Octo Finissimo Sketch

Since its creation in 2014, the Octo Finissimo has held a unique place in contemporary watchmaking. Pioneering the art of miniaturisation combined with resolutely pared-down design, the collection has set nine records. On the occasion of Bulgari’s 140th anniversary, the brand is exploring new territory, that of a dial featuring sketches that reveal the back of the movement from the front.

The first model, the Octo Finissimo Automatic Sketch, is available in two limited series of 280 for the steel version and 70 for the rose gold interpretation. The micro-rotor, escapement, bridges, watch jewels and finishing details (circular graining, Côtes de Genève) are sketched on the dial. The drawing highlights the key elements of the iconic Finissimo, which measures 40mm in diameter. The BVL 138 Manufacture movement beats at the heart of these timepieces, while the sapphire caseback bears the inscriptions “Edizione Limitata” and “1884-2024”, a nod to Bulgari’s 140th anniversary.

The second model follows the same creative principle, applied to the GMT chronograph. The 43mm polished steel case houses the automatic Manufacture chronograph movement with peripheral oscillating weight. The latter was the crucial element in meeting the thinness constraint serving to set the world record in 2019. At just 3.3mm thick, is a concentrated blend of expertise. This 140-piece limited edition features sketches of the key elements composing the dial as well as the back of the movement. This skilful composition combines the iconic tricompax chronograph display with the balance pencilled in between 4 and 5 o’clock, the emblematic column wheel at 8 o’clock, along with the smallest finishing details on the bridges and gears. The back of the timepiece also bears the “Edizione Limitata” and “1884-2024” annotations.
