Twenty-five years ago, the Italian brand created the Bulgari Aluminium, an “Italian sport-chic” watch that hasn’t aged a day, as this timepiece has just been awarded the Red Dot Design Best of the Best Award in 2023. The watch Maison and the famous Gran Turismo racing simulation game are teaming up under the banner of precision and innovation.
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Vision GT programme, which has opened up the development of racing cars for video games to the world’s leading car manufacturers.
To mark the occasion, Bulgari has drawn inspiration from its legendary watch and is offering its new Bulgari Aluminium X Gran Turismo Special Edition in two limited versions. The first (500-piece version) features a vibrant yellow dial with black counters inspired by the dashboard dials of a famous Italian Gran Turismo car from the 1990s. The second (1,200-piece iteration) sports an anthracite dial with yellow hour-markers. These two timepieces combine the robustness and lightness of aluminium for the case with the suppleness of rubber for the Bulgari-marked bezel.
This blend of materials is echoed on the strap with its articulated rubber links linked by aluminium rods. The crown and caseback are forged in high-tech titanium with a light, highly resistant black DLC treatment, the latter adorned with the “10th Anniversary Vision GT” logo.
For the watchmaker, the presentation was also an opportunity to unveil its Bulgari Aluminium Vision GT hypercar. This is the very first car specially designed by a watch brand for Gran Turismo racing. As the brand suggests, the engine might well also be roaring around a real track in the not-too-distant future...
