ID Genève launches a watch with repairable material

ID Genève and CompPair announced the launch of ID Genève’s new Circular C collection. The dial, side decorations and bezel are made from 100% recycled carbon fibres such as wind turbine or aerospace manufacturing waste. The material features CompPair’s unique technology, creating a regenerative watch.

CompPair aims to accelerate the transition to a circular economy with a product enabling ultra-fast repair. This carbon composite returns to its original condition after being heated for one minute.

Months of research went into addressing the capacity to regenerate scratches and other damage that can occur while wearing a watch. Both partners have taken the technology one step further by combining it with recycled fibres to reintroduce valuable recovered fibers on the market, thereby bringing a lower usage of natural resources and energy.

Pioneers of sustainability in different sectors, the two Swiss-based companies have joined forces to share their values in terms of innovation and circularity. The timepiece presented embraces the power of collaboration in the Swiss innovative ecosystem with sustainable materials expertise on one hand and watchmaking mastery on the other.

This first LAB edition of Circular C is lissued in a 20-piece limited edition. ID Genève serves here as a platform, a showcase for the climate heroes transforming the industries and offering a unique solution. Design-wise, the irregular arrangement of recycled fibres in the mould gives a granular appearance. The design breaks away from the existing linear mode of carbon consumption. As far as the dial is concerned, the aim was to express the hours and minutes organically, in reference to molecules in motion, to a complex structure of the infinitely small. All of which echoes the upcycled materials that are brought back to life after use.
