From 9 to 19 November, the Planet Ocean exhibition took up residence at the Chelsea Factory in New York. Retracing the history of the watchmaking Maison, it featured a large number of timepieces. At the entrance to the exhibition, a special “Vintage” section features a whole series of historic models on loan from the Omega Museum in Biel/Bienne. The rest of the exhibition is divided into different themes dear to the brand.
For sport and the Olympic Games, Omega celebrates its heritage in official timekeeping in a growing variety of competitions, from the America’s Cup to professional golf, swimming and athletics. The James Bond section is dedicated to the world’s favourite spy, who has worn an Omega in all his films since 1995.
Another element inseparable from the brand is Space. Since the Speedmaster Moonwatch was certified by NASA in 1965 for all manned missions, Omega has played an essential role in some of the greatest explorations in history, including the first moon landing in 1969. The Biel/Bienne-based company is also known for its international family of friends and ambassadors. They all embody the values of excellence and success, whether in the fields of exploration, sport, entertainment or fashion.
The exhibition concludes with a theme that has been at the heart of Omega’s history right from the start: precision. This section highlights some of its greatest successes throughout its history.
