Patience, humility and dedication are the principles that have guided the engineers, watchmakers and artisans of “La Grande Maison” for almost two centuries. Over time, they have achieved excellence by transforming talent into skill, step by step, day after day, as is also the case in music, the performing arts, painting and design. This is the Jaeger-LeCoultre manifesto.
For its new campaign, the Manufacture has brought together its international ambassadors Nicholas Hoult and Anya Taylor-Joy and pays tribute to their practical work behind the scenes, essential to perfecting a gesture, a movement or a song in front of the camera.
Directed by French visual artist and art director Quentin Deronzier, well known for his fairytale worlds that blur the boundaries between the real, the unreal and the surreal, the short film is based around the legendary Reverso, created in 1931. The understated, minimalist set, enhanced by evocative lighting, focuses the viewer’s attention on the invisible work of the two characters.
In this short film, the British actor wears the Reverso Tribute Chronograph in steel, powered by Calibre 860, but instead of the usual Art Deco sunburst dial, the time piece features a semi-skeletonised inverted dial on which a second time zone complements the chronograph. Anya Taylor-Joy wears the Reverso Duetto Small in pink gold. This refined, feminine watch with its day/night design offers two different ways of displaying the time: a discreet, classic sunburst dial on the front: while the diamond-set gadroons on the back create a sparkle that contrasts with the black lacquer.
