Official timekeeper of the next America’s Cup, to be held in Barcelona in 2024, the Biel-based company has drawn inspiration from the sail in the logo of the defending champion New Zealand team to create the latest addition to the Seamaster collection. Called the Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black ETNZ Edition, it was recently presented at the preliminary regatta in Vilanova.
The deep black colour of this timepiece, powered by the Master Chronometer 9900 calibre, contrasts with the turquoise blue of the Emirates Team New Zealand logo. The 45.5mm-diameter black ceramic case is complemented by a brushed black ceramic unidirectional bezel displaying a white enamel diving scale, with a triangular marker at 12 o’clock. Just as on the diving hand, the white Super-LumiNova with which it is equipped emits a green light that is clearly visible in the dark. On the matt ceramic dial, Omega has placed a countdown indicator at 3 o’clock, perfectly visible with its flange and the turquoise indicator hand. The minutes track, the number 12 and the chronograph seconds hand are in the same colour.
As a tribute to the Kiwi crew, Omega has adorned the caseback with the Emirates Team New Zealand logo, featuring a turquoise fern and white lettering. The chronograph is fitted with a black and turquoise structured rubber folding-clasp strap with turquoise stitching. The brand also offers three other straps: an additional rubber strap and two Nato straps in complementary colours.
