To celebrate its tenth anniversary, the Mauron Musy brand has unveiled a second calibre developed entirely in-house and ensuring a 48-hour power reserve.
The MM02 features a highly architectural profile: from the tungsten carbide micro-rotor to the balance and balance-spring, the eye follows a spiral staircase and plunges into the heart of the movement.
This new calibre powers a resolutely unisex model: the MU06 UniX. While this timepiece still boasts the brand’s characteristic industrial design and brushed finishes, its grade 5 titanium case has been trimmed to a 41mm diameter. This slimmer silhouette should encourage women to enter the exciting world of Mauron Musy. The X refers to the only chromosome that all human beings have in common. This reference comes in eight versions respectively featuring a case in titanium, “Hard Gold” red gold or with a black DLC finish. Particular attention has been paid to customising the dial: pearlescent, lacquered or snailed, it endows each timepiece with a unique and exclusive character.
To mark this decade of activity, the Fribourg-based company has also collaborated with Frédéric Jouvenot to present the HPM1. The watchmaker from La Chaux-de-Fonds has developed a novel way of telling the time – without hands or numerals – by means of sunbeams changing colours. Won over by this original concept, Mauron Musy wanted to combine it with the industrial and contemporary design of its watches, based on its MM01 movement. Working in close collaboration with the entire Saint-Aubin team, Frédéric Jouvenot then came up with this timepiece featuring a totally disruptive look.
The dial looks like a hydraulic turbine. A central hand indicates the minutes. Twelve small titanium pallets swivel instantly with each passing hour. Completely black at midnight, they take on colour as the day dawns. Produced in an 18-piece limited edition and weighing just 120 grams, the HPM1 with its 44mm titanium case is available in four colours: purple, turquoise, blue and white.
Both these timepieces feature the nO-Ring technology developed by the brand. Based on the principle of mechanical water-resistance, this system has been raised to the rank of a “case complication”: no fewer than 36 components ensure that the case is perfectly water-resistant to 300 metres without the need for any gaskets. Its genius lies in the miniaturisation of a device used in general mechanics on dam turbines or atomic reactors. This involves fastening two parts of a system together using very tight bolts. To prevent the components from deforming, Mauron Musy has developed a revolutionary clamping method with an assembly flange and two compression satellite springs (up to 390 Newton vertical pressure) that hold the sapphire crystal and transparent caseback in place, guaranteeing the watch’s total water-resistance.
Labelled Swiss Crafted (100% made in Switzerland), Mauron Musy timepieces come with a five-year warranty.
