In collaboration with CronotempVs Collectors, the Le Locle based. brand has launched a timepiece in tribute to the grandson of the brand’s founder, who was a director of the company for 50 years.
In addition to his watchmaking DNA, which he inherited from his ancestors, André Didisheim was an accomplished sportsman keenly involved in tennis, skiing and football. Among other things, he played for Madrid FC (Real Madrid at the time). During his football career in Spain, his surname, Didisheim, was changed to “Didixein”.
Vulcain and CronotempVs Collectors present the Vulcain Cricket “André Didixein”, a 47-piece limited edition, in reference to the year in which the Cricket calibre was launched (1947). This model features a 39mm steel case with a sapphire crystal caseback providing a view of the alarm mechanism. The crown at 3 o’clock not only winds the timepiece, but also arms the mechanism and sets the time. The pusher at 2 o’clock is used to set the alarm, which can be read by the arrow-tipped hand. This timepiece is equipped with the hand-wound Cricket V10 movement – an evolved version of the original 1947 calibre – which beats at a rate of 18,000 vib/h and offers a 50-hour power reserve.
The elegant dial, with its Super-LumiNova-coated Arabic numerals, has a vintage look achieved through a chromatographic effect that simulates ageing.
