Revival of the Georges Gay brand

2021 marked the year of the return of the Swiss brand Georges Gay. Two grandsons of the watchmaker from Les Bioux have relaunched their grandfather’s company in true family tradition.

Maintaining strong roots in the Vallée de Joux, Jean-Michel Gay-Golay and Philippe Gay work with local companies that are historical partners of Georges Gay and Desotos.

At the beginning of this year, the two entrepreneurs presented a new chronograph named Altitude 1004. This timepiece, whose name is inspired by the location above sea level of the Joux Lake, features a Valjoux 7750 base movement, equipped with two complications: a moon phase at 3 o’clock and a date hand. The white dial with its three hollowed counters and silver hour-markers recalls the design of some legendary vintage models. The black hours and minutes hands provide clear readability in any weather. The hands are equipped with Super-LumiNova, as are the tips of the hour-markers. The polished steel case is water-resistant to 100 metres and fitted with sapphire crystals front and back. The self-winding movement and its rhodium-plated, circular-grained oscillating weight are visible through the back of the watch. The Georges Gay brand name is engraved on the case along with the serial number.

This chronograph comes with two types of wristband: a black calfskin strap with white stitching or a shiny polished steel bracelet composed of slender links. Both are equipped with a folding clasp.

Issued in a numbered 50-piece limited series, the Altitude 1004 is assembled to order for its purchaser.
