Queloz SA takes over Guillod-Gunther

Following the announcement of the closure of Guillod-Gunther, Queloz SA, a company of the Cendres+Métaux Group, will take over its activities from the end of 2020.

Located in Saignelégier, Queloz SA will thus ensure the continuity of business with the firm’s customer brands in La Chaux-de-Fonds. It will take over the majority of the company’s machinery, assets, expertise and will provide permanent employment for a certain number of people.

Founded in 1866, Guillod Gunther is active in the production of watch cases. Its clientele includes major names in luxury watchmaking and their subcontractors. The company found itself in a precarious situation with the Covid-19 crisis and had to take the decision to cease its activities.

Despite a particularly unfavourable and uncertain context, the steps taken by Guillod-Gunther have led to a solution via the takeover of the company by Queloz SA. A certain number of employees will be taken over and customers will continue to be supplied without interruption. Philippe Caste, President of Guillod-Gunther, said: “With Queloz SA and the Cendres+Métaux Group, we have found a purchaser with a solid base and in-depth expertise who can continue the business in our interest and offer a future to an important part of our team”. Frédéric Dupuis, Managing Director of Guillod-Gunther, added: “We are committed to ensuring the best possible transition, supporting Queloz SA as much as necessary”.

“This takeover strengthens Queloz SA in the field of high-end watch cases. The new employees will bring complementary expertise to the company and the new machines will provide reactivity, flexibility and increased production. We will therefore benefit from expanded capacities”, said Julien Midez, director of Queloz SA. Philipp von Büren, CEO of Cendres+Métaux Luxury+Industry, added: “This takeover is a concrete expression of the commitment of the Cendres+Métaux Group in Switzerland, while at the same time offering customers competence, continuity and confidence for a solid and long-term partnership”. The integration will take place at the Queloz site in Saignelégier.
