Oris protects the Hangang River

As part of its mission to bring “Change for the better”, Oris has embarked on a new goal to help clean, protect and safeguard the waters of the Hangang River in South Korea.

To achieve this, the watch company has joined forces with Seoul KFEM, an entity of the Korean Federation for an Ecological Movement, the country’s largest environmental non-governmental organisation. To support this new commitment, it has created the Oris Hangang Limited Edition model: a watch that highlights the fate of this river, the second longest in the country and the most important as it provides water for the 10 million inhabitants of Seoul, the country’s capital. Years of neglect have soiled and polluted it to the point where it is in desperate need of cleaning and protection.

With this new partnership, Oris is supporting clean-up days that Seoul KFEM has scheduled throughout the year, during which hundreds of local volunteers will come to collect rubbish, plastic and other harmful pollutants. These actions will also raise awareness of the importance of clean drinking water in Seoul.

Inspired by the Aquis diving model, the Oris Hangang features the same functionality and performance. The dark green colour of the ceramic insert and dial is inspired by the waters of the creek at the source of the river. The caseback is engraved with the Hangang’s course through Korea and the limited-edition number.
