Louis Moinet is celebrating in its own way the 150th anniversary of the first transcontinental railway running between the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of the United States. After six years of effort, the link was established on May 10th 1869.
Multiple bridges and tunnels, as well as 2,826 km of railway lines, served to join up the existing network with the eastern half of the country, thereby connecting the Pacific coast to the Atlantic coast.
In the spirit of the great human adventures of the 19th century, the “Transcontinental by Louis Moinet” subscription has been launched. Running until September 10th, it is aimed at the descendants of the pioneers of the transcontinental railroad as well as at trailblazers and innovators in general. Everyone will find within it the unique values that help them successfully conquer human challenges.
At the heart of this proposed timepiece, in two limited series of 18 watches in pink gold and 69 in steel, a clever automaton has been developed to reproduce the coupling rods used by “Jupiter” and “119”, the two locomotives that met on Promontory Summit in 1869. A wheel arrangement comprises two large wheels and one small wheels, concentrating energy into continuous power.
