Swatch Group masters the gold processing cycle

The watchmaker giant has announced that it now controls the entire processing chain of this precious metal internally.

Its own foundry, now certified under the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) Code of Practices (COP), is able to manage all gold requirements within the group, thereby marking a new step forward in terms of traceability.

Nivarox, a subsidiary of the Swatch Group, was also audited by an independent body last October with a view to Responsible Jewellery Council COP certification. All the gold from the group’s companies will be processed in a totally closed cycle. The entire transformation process, from foundry to semi-finished and finished products, is thus controlled within Swatch Group, including production waste. This step will not only accelerate the creation of new alloys in the future, but also ensure the traceability of gold.
