World freediving record with Oris

The watchmaking firm’s ambassador, Carlos Coste, achieved a new world freediving record over the longest horizontal distance. After previously achieving a similar exploit the athlete bettered his own 2010 performance of 150 metres, this time by swimming over a distance of 177 metres.

Achieved on the occasion of the second edition of the «Bonaire Deepsea Challenge: World Record Attempts & International Freediving Competition» in the Dutch Antilles, this new exploit counts among the competitions ranked by the International Association for the Development of Freediving and the Dutch Freediving Association.

Carlos Coste also beat the previous South American record for deep diving at constant weight without flippers by covering a distance of 69 metres in 3 minutes and 33 seconds. The women divers Marina Kazankova and Jeanine Grasmeijer also achieved outstanding performance in this competition.
