Reuge acquires Frères Rochat

Development projects announced during the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the manufacture are coming to fruition.

Six months after the arrival of its new majority shareholder, Reuge has announced a new addition to the family, the company Frères Rochat.

Frères Rochat, a name well known to discerning collectors, has a history dating back more than two hundred years. It developed singing bird automata whose horological complexity, meticulous execution and ornamental exteriors place them without doubt among the most exclusive horological objets d’art of the 21st century.

It’s thanks to the determination of Stéphane Velan that Frères Rochat singing birds are making a new appearance in 2012. Two centuries of tradition transposed in unique creations, manufactured with modern-day expertise. Featuring a series of highly advanced complications, these masterpieces of miniaturisation and sophistication are the culmination of years of research and development.

The two Swiss icons retain their own identity, management and workforce. Sainte-Croix now becomes their home port. Having already collaborated in the past, today they are based under the same roof. What they have in common will become their source of strength. What differentiates them will confirm their primacy. Accustomed to designing tailor-made objects, they will share an international network marking an expansion towards ever more exclusive creations.
