The Patrouille Suisse honoured by IWC Schaffhausen

The renowned watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen is again paying tribute to the high-flying excellence of the Patrouille Suisse with a special edition for 2015.

The pilots of the Swiss Air Force display team have been wowing international air show crowds for decades with the precision and perfection of their formation flying. This year IWC is recognizing the exceptional flyers of the Swiss aerobatics squadron with a Big Pilot’s Watch Edition «Patrouille Suisse», a special version of the iconic watch first produced in 1940 which will be limited to 250 watches.

They fly formations that are called Eiger, Matterhorn, Delta or Shadow. At speeds of up to 1,000 km/h, and sometimes just 60 metres above the ground, the professional Swiss Air Force pilots in their red-and-white finished Tiger jets loop the loop and perform simultaneous rolls and tunnels. The Patrouille Suisse was established as an aerobatics squadron on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Swiss Air Force in 1964. Since then, the breathtaking flying skills of the aerobatics team, consisting of six Tiger pilots, have made them much-acclaimed ambassadors for Switzerland wherever they appear.
