Carrera Panamericana

The Carrera Panamericana, that most mythical of all road races, was held from 17 to 23 October in Mexico. TAG Heuer, partner and official timekeeper for this event, set the ball rolling with a team of two cars bearing its colours: one driven by the former F1 driver Erik Comas and the other by the youngest participant in the race, Jérôme de Sadeleer.

After seven days of headlong racing under appalling conditions with a capricious car and for their first participation in the race, Erik Comas and Isabelle de Sadeleer achieved their goal: that of winning the 2014 edition of the Carrera Panamericana.

The youngest participants in this edition, Jérôme de Sadeleer and his co-driver, Caroline Wilhelms, attracted particular attention for their tenacity, youth and smiling faces. Throughout the race, the couple had to contend with mechanical failures but still stood on a number of podiums despite these problems.

From Veracruz to Durango, some 3,300 km across Mexico awaited participants. The partnership between the Pan-Am and the brand based in La Chaux-de-Fonds is founded on a shared liking for challenge and adrenalin. The starting and finishing lines together with the mechanical workshops beat to the TAG Heuer rhythm. The winners received a Carrera limited edition timepiece with the effigy of Juan Manuel Fangio engraved on the case back.
