The Belgian watch firm is making inroads into a new market sector and has acquired Patton, a manufacturer of Swiss made watches since 2009. Jean-Pierre Lutgen, CEO of the group, announced the takeover in the presence of Patton’s founder, Jean-Louis Le Bec, and Helen Patton, granddaughter of the American general who gave his name to the brand.
Patton watches are conceived and designed in the same spirit as Ice-Watch timepieces, allowing multiple combinations of colours and materials. They stand out by their all-terrain vocations, including deep-sea diving, parachuting, yachting and motor racing, and are built to be put to the test, such as the brand’s flagship model, the P42 Hyperbare, which allows divers to descend to great depths. Indeed one such watch has been submerged for more than five years deep in the Indian Ocean and still indicates the correct time.
Jean-Louis Le Bec will integrate Jean-Pierre Lutgen’s team and benefit from the group’s global network to develop the Patton brand, which will retain its own identity.
