Victorinox Swiss Army - With Associação De Remo Salvador

Victorinox Swiss Army announced a new partnership with Associação de Remo Salvador (ARS), Brazil’s pre-eminent club and school for disabled rowers.

The brand sponsorship program is designed to help the Association’s athletes prepare for «adaptive» rowing events at the XV Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, in 2016. The term «adaptive» means that the equipment is modified for the sport, and not for each athlete’s disability. Victorinox Swiss Army will provide the ARS crew with two 4-person rowing boats and cover the annual operation costs, including the full salaries of the staff.

Based by the Dique do Tororó lake and Pituaçu Park in the Brazilian city of Salvador, ARS supports disenfranchised neighbourhoods by offering its community members with disabilities access to rowing training and competition at a world-class level. ARS was founded eight years ago and is coached by Brazilian Rowing Champion Cláudio Ferreira Mota, who helped the Brazilian Paralympic Rowing Selection become world champion in 2007, world vice champion in 2008 and bronze medal winner in the China Paralympic Games of 2008.

Rowing is the newest paralympic sport. It entered in the program in 2005, and premiered in the Beijing Paralympic Games in 2008.
