In its capacity as worldwide associate partner of Art Basel, Audemars Piguet presented a grandiose installation at the Miami Beach show which took place from 5 to 8 December this year. The Galerie Perrotin, the prestigious contemporary art gallery, teamed up with the watchmaker to unveil a new work by the duo of French artists Kolkoz, consisting of Benjamin Moreau and Samuel Boutruche.
The project was presented in the form of a floating chalet which took centre stage in front of the emblematic modern structure of the Marine Stadium, now disused. Evoking with humour the winter quarters of the Joux Valley manufacture, the installation, covered in snow, floated like an iceberg on Florida’s tropical waters and was the venue for events organised by the brand throughout the week.
The firm was also present in the Collectors’ Lounge, where it welcomed its guests into a purpose-built space. Visitors were able to contemplate a retrospective showcasing classic models from the manufacture’s 138 year-old history, as well as a watchmaker’s bench. At the show, Audemars Piguet also exhibited works by the British photographer Dan Holdsworth. Renowned for his spellbinding natural landscapes, the artist has immortalised the timeless appeal of the Joux Valley.
