Audemars Piguet Foundation - First Stone At Centror

Founded in 1982 by Letterio Fazio, who remained its director until this autumn, Centror - a wholly owned subsidiary of Audemars Piguet Holding since the year 2000 – manufactures watch cases and bracelets for Audemars Piguet and other prestige watch manufacturers. It currently has approximately sixty employees and is managed by Olivier Boillat.

On 5 November this year in Meyrin, the Audemars Piguet Foundation presided over the laying of the first stone of Centror’s new building in Meyrin. The property will receive its first occupants after the Christmas break in January 2014.

In keeping with the philosophy of the Audemars Piguet Foundation, this new building is expected to obtain Minergie-Eco certification. It will include two parts, one for use by Centror, the other built by the Ritschard group, a freight forwarder. The basement, car park and cloakrooms, as well as adjoining unloading bays on the ground floor, are being built jointly by the two firms. The wing occupied by Centror offers a useable floor space of 2,300 m2 and consists mainly of a level set aside for manufacturing and two floors of workshops and administrative offices.

Centror will be the second Audemars Piguet building to gain Minergie-Eco certification, after the Les Forges manufactory in Le Brassus, where around 30,000 watches are produced annually. Inaugurated in 2008, it was the first industrial and artisanal building to be awarded the Swiss Minergie-Eco label. The latter combines four key aspects of sustainable construction: comfort and health, energy efficiency and environmental friendliness of the building.
