Venice International Film Festival, the famous Mostra, at which Jaeger-LeCoultre has been a partner for eight years, took place from 29 August to 8 September. Featuring prominently during the event’s highlights, the Le Sentier based manufactory marked its presence by rewarding laureates, supporting the action «A rose for emergency» and adorning the stars on the red carpet with its creations.
Jaeger-LeCoultre’s participation in the Venice Film Festival takes on a particularly human dimension thanks to its support for Emergency, a humanitarian association founded in 1994, present in over 16 countries and dedicated to helping civilians who are victims of armed conflict and of poverty. Throughout the duration of the festival, Jaeger-LeCoultre will be funding the maternity centre that Emergency has opened in Anabah, Afghanistan. Artists will also make their contribution by wearing Reverso models engraved with a rose, a task specially performed for the occasion by the artisans of the Manufacture.
Spike Lee, the American director, scriptwriter, actor and producer, received the 2012 Jaeger-LeCoultre «Glory to the Filmmaker» award. For five years, this distinction has gone to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the development of contemporary cinema, such as Takeshi Kitano (2007), Abbas Kiarostami (2008), Agnès Varda (2008), Sylvester Stallone (2009), Mani Ratnam (2010) and Al Pacino (2011).
During the festival numerous stars wore Jaeger-LeCoultre creations, such as Pierce Brosnan, the Irish actor and film producer, who wore a Reverso Squadra Hometime in rose gold, the Chinese actress Zhao Wei, who wore a Jaeger-LeCoultre vintage Jewellery watch, and French actress Isabelle Huppert, whose wrist sported a Grande Reverso Lady Ultra Thin in rose gold.
And of course at the festival’s closing ceremony the Lions d’Or, the supreme distinction, were presented to the winners: best male and female performances, and prize for best direction and best film. The laureates also received a personalised Reverso with a lacquered engraving on the case-back showing an effigy of the lion, symbol of the city, as well as the words «69ème Mostra».
It was also in the setting of the Venice Mostra that Jaeger-LeCoultre unveiled its all-new feminine collection, Rendez-Vous.
