Fondation De La Haute Horlogerie - Real/Fake: You Have The Choice!

As part of its fight against counterfeiting, the Fondation de la haute horlogerie has organised a short-film competition open to the general public and to first-year students in visual communication at the University of Art and Design Lausanne (ECAL). Its theme: «Looking at fake for real». Around thirty ads and short films in the form of animations, works of fiction, montages and cartoons have been selected for national and international screenings:

The threat posed by counterfeiting is serious: with a turnover of more than 400 billion dollars, it accounts for 7% of world trade; more than 40 million fake Swiss watches are sold each year, compared to 26 million original timepieces produced in 2010, making a net profit in the order of one billion dollars; running the risk of less severe penalties than drug trafficking, counterfeiting is a highly lucrative activity for criminal organisations.
