News On 18 August, the PPR Group announced the appointment of Michele Sofisti as Chief Executive Officer of the Sowind Group with immediate effect. He will be assisted by Stefano and Massimo Macaluso, who are in charge of Girard-Perregaux and JeanRichard respectively. He also remains CEO of Gucci Group Watches and Jewellery and a member of the Board of Directors of Gucci Timepieces Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and Japan.
An expert in the luxury watchmaking industry, Michele Sofisti joined the Gucci Group as a strategic advisor in 2009. He was appointed CEO in 2010 after successfully contributing to the repositioning of the brand’s product offering in the watch segment. Previously he was Chairman of Swatch AG (Switzerland) for five years and also held the posts of Chairman of Fred Jewellers and Christian Dior Watches (LVMH), after a previous experience in the Swatch Group as Vice-Chairman and later Chairman of Omega. An Italian national, Michele Sofisti holds a degree in geology from Parma University.
