Ermenegildo Zegna, Managing Director of the group of the same name, and Gino Macaluso, leading shareholder of the Sowind watch group which owns the brands Girard-Perregaux and JeanRichard, have signed a long-term partnership agreement for the development, production and after-sales servicing of Ermenegildo Zegna watches, the first collection of which will be distributed internationally in 2011 in Ermenegildo Zegna stores.
"Following the success of the limited edition watch commemorating the Zegna centenary and developed in collaboration with Girard-Perregaux, the logical next step was to strengthen our partnership and get a new project off the ground," said Ermenegildo Zegna. "The idea is to create a collection of Swiss-made watches with a distinctive design, which is exactly what clients expect from our brand. The collaboration with Sowind, whose values and philosophy match our own, will be based on specific Swiss watch industry know-how with a view to bringing Zegna to a wider audience and consolidating its position as a leader in the field of luxury products for men."
For Gino Macaluso, "This partnership brings together the histories of two families whose values and professional ethics have become a genuine philosophy of life and who are embarking together on a new and mutually beneficial path that shows regard for their respective identities. For Sowind, this experience of working with the fashion world will be extremely interesting. Remarkable quality, know-how and Italian style will combine perfectly with the uniqueness and excellence of Swiss prestige watchmaking."
