At a gala evening in Rome, the new ambassadress of the Saint-Imier based company presented the latest models in the DolceVita collection.
At a gala dinner held against the stunning backdrop of the Villa Miani in the hills above Rome, Kate Winslet was welcomed to the family of Longines’ Ambassadors of Elegance. The British filmstar, who won an Oscar for Best Actress in 2009, was joined by the Bollywood icon Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and the Asian filmstar Chi Ling Lin. With an exemplary career so far, enriched by a variety of demanding and challenging roles, Kate Winslet is the perfect embodiment of the values that Longines promotes. Thanks to her contribution, the brand’s watchmaking elegance has gained a new dimension, illustrated by the latest additions to the DolceVita collection that combine steel and different colours of gold.
Already enchanted by the charm of the idyllic Villa Miani, the 400 guests at the dinner were further captivated when Kate Winslet, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Chi Ling Lin appeared in all their splendour. To greet the guests, the Longines Ambassadors of Elegance wore the new models in the DolceVita collection that combine the brilliance of steel with the warmth of rose gold. The diners then had the privilege of seeing the first screening of a publicity film featuring the three stars of the silver screen projected on to the walls of the Villa Miani. Directed by Matthieu Mantovani, this short film brings together the three Ambassadors of Elegance and offers a contemporary interpretation of the Italian "dolce vita". Inspired by the hustle and bustle of the Via Veneto in Rome, the film captures the special atmosphere of the streets of the Eternal City under the spell of the natural elegance of Kate Winslet, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Chi Ling Lin. The guests were also able to admire the stills used in the advertising campaign, taken by the famous photographer Véronique Vial.
The DolceVita collection embodies the brand’s vision of contemporary elegance. Launched in 1997, it has been extremely successful throughout the world, models being worn by women who appreciate refined elegance with timeless style. The collection is characterised by the harmonious rectangular shape of the case, which can easily be used as a basis for a variety of versions. Now Longines has created a new image for this collection of contemporary elegance by using different colours of gold to enhance the brilliance of the steel parts. With a choice of versions guaranteed to please all tastes, this new creation is available in three sizes, with a choice of dials, in steel and yellow gold or steel and rose gold, some versions set with diamonds.
