Beijing, Hong Kong And Macau - New Carl F. Bucherer Boutiques

Lucerne based watch manufacturer Carl F. Bucherer is intensifying its relations with the Celestial Empire by opening points of sale in Beijing, Hong Kong and Macau.

In a short space of time, Carl F. Bucherer has positioned itself exceptionally well in the Chinese market. In the watch segment above 4,500 Swiss francs, every sixth watch sold is a model from the independent watch manufacturer with its headquarters in Lucerne. This is reason enough for Carl F. Bucherer to invest further in this emerging region with the opening of new boutiques in Beijing, Hong Kong and Macau.

The famous Wangfujing commercial centre is situated in the Dongcheng District, the second largest area of the old city of Beijing, where originally the wealthy merchant families and important citizens used to live. From time immemorial the trading centre of the city, today it is one of the most beautiful boulevards of modern Beijing and indeed the city’s best-known and most important shopping street. Here, the new Carl F. Bucherer boutique welcomes you on two floors with a floor space of around 90 m2.

On 10 October 2008, the boutique was officially opened with a festive ceremony. Some 80 media representatives and selected guests took part in the press conference with the traditional Chinese lion dance, followed by a tour of the sales facilities. As well as the current Carl F. Bucherer models, timepieces from the brand’s almost ninety year history were on display.

In the evening, a gala-dinner followed in the new five-star Beijing Millennium Hotel. Among the hosts at the opening event were Jörg G. Bucherer, who is part of the family’s third generation to manage the Bucherer group, and Thomas Morf, CEO of Carl F. Bucherer. During the evening, Carl F. Bucherer auctioned off an Alacria, a Manero Perpetual and a Manero Tribute to MaBu. The proceeds of the auction were donated to the Lifeline Express programme. This hospital train equipped with the latest instruments travels throughout China’s poorest regions, carrying out eye operations on the spot.

In both Hong Kong and the neighboring former Portuguese colony of Macau, Carl F. Bucherer boutiques opened their doors on 6 and 8 October. The brand now has four of its own sales locations, including the boutique in Dubai, which has been open for business since the beginning of 2008.

The Carl F. Bucherer boutiques all stand by the motto "Feel at home at Carl F. Bucherer". "Our customers must all feel at home with us right away. Bright rooms, clear lines and cubic shapes emphasize the values of our brand: independence, freedom and unwillingness to compromise", explains Bruno Jufer, Executive Vice President Marketing from Carl F. Bucherer. As source of the inspiration for the timeless modern architecture served the elegant, classical buildings by Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Meier and Mies van der Rohe. Natural materials such as stone, wood and glass were used for the assignment. "We are especially proud of working with genuine quartzite from the Vals Valley. This natural Swiss stone stands for strength and a thirst for action‚ and is 100% Swiss made."
