Harry Winston - A Boutique In London

Before the forthcoming opening in Japan of a first boutique dedicated entirely to its masterpieces of watchmaking, the famous US jeweller is opening an outlet in the British capital.

Harry Winston opened a 5,500 square foot flagship at 171 New Bond Street in London on July 4. The five-story salon is a luxurious showcase for the diamond jewelry and timepieces that have been prized by royalty, Hollywood luminaries and corporate moguls for over 100 years.

"London is a key part of our growth strategy, commented Chief Executive Officer Thomas J. O'Neill. As one of the world's great international cities, it is a critical component of our retail network. Our clients live an international lifestyle and London figures prominently in their social and cultural agendas".

The sculpted bronze door of the New Bond Street store hints at the glamorous reflection of light on diamonds. Inside, a stone foyer leads to the Grand Salon, a jewel-box interior where jewelry is presented in "treasure" cabinets of black lacquer with gold appliqué. Walls are upholstered in "elephant's breath" silk velvet with bronze accents. Upstairs, a private viewing room for the rarest jewels recalls Harry Winston's personal office and study. An exhibition gallery and entertaining space are also located on the upper floors. Overall, the interiors provide a discreet, personalized experience for the client.

The salon opened with important jewelry and gemstones, including a pair of extraordinary 60-carat D-flawless diamond drop earrings, a selection of archival-inspired Winston jewels, and an iconic diamond Wreath necklace and Cluster earrings that demonstrate the fluid and dimensional style that is the Winston signature. In addition, the company introduced The Westminster timepiece, a limited edition chiming tourbillion created in honor of the London opening.

In addition to the new London location, Harry Winston has salons in New York, Beverly Hills, Las Vegas, Miami, Honolulu, Paris, Geneva, Tokyo, Omotesando, Osaka and Taipei. Other new stores are also scheduled in Dallas, Chicago and Japan, where a boutique dedicated solely to watchmaking is to be inaugurated shortly; further outlets will follow on other international markets. Harry Winston timepieces are sold at 150 of the most discerning retailers worldwide.
