www.hautehorlogerie.org - New Reference Site

Created in the autumn of 2005 to promote technical and precious luxury watchmaking and federate the businesses involved, the Foundation for Fine Luxury Watchmaking (FHH) opened its www.hautehorlogerie.org website on 25 September last. A reference in its specialized field, this new Internet site comprising more than 2000 bilingual French-English pages illustrated by around one thousand high definition photos, offers a rich and varied multimedia content able to satisfy the expectations of all interested parties from manufacturers to retailers and from collectors to amateurs. Visitors therefore have an opportunity to travel through 700 years of history and discover portraits of watchmakers, clear and illustrated definitions of technical terms as well as fine craft trades and unique expertise. Other information includes an explanation of the workings of a mechanical watch and the mysteries of complication, with expert advice, visits to virtual thematic exhibitions and background articles written by journalists from all over the world. Then there is a description of the International Salon of Fine Luxury Watchmaking (SIHH) and an introduction to the fine luxury watchmaking professions, a series of eleven documentary films made by the FHH. Updated information will soon be available in the Journal of fine luxury watchmaking which is to be launched this autumn and will publish news in this sector and deal with strategic themes that are crucial to its future.
