Think Time Think Swiss Excellence At WIPO In Geneva

For three weeks, the FH thematic travelling exhibition attracted visitors to Creators in Perpetual Movement, an event organized by WIPO in the city of Calvin.

How can interest in the Swiss watchmaking industry be attracted from such a widely varied audience as: sportsmen like Roger Federer and Stanislas Vawrinka playing against Great Britain in the Davis Cup; artists such as Stephan Eicher and Axelle Red in concert at the Arena with Youssou N'Dour; physicians meeting at an international congress on geriatric oncology; participants in the WIM (Women's International Congress); international experts in site machinery, attending a seminar in Geneva; students from the Indian Institute of Planning and Management on a visit to Switzer-land and, last but not least, delegates to the Annual Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO)?

The FH answered that question by taking part in the Creators in Perpetual Movement event which was held from 23 September to 14 October at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Geneva. Organised by the SMB department of WIPO, its purpose was to familiarise consumers with intellectual property. Given the importance of this issue for the watchmaking industry, what could be more natural than for them to ask the FH to support this idea with its travelling thematic exhibition Think Time - Think Swiss Excellence to demonstrate the need to protect brands, models and inventions. A number of Swiss watchmaking businesses (Delance, Hublot, Journe, Longines and Tissot) also answered the WIPO request by showing how their intellectual assets are protected and exhibiting a number of products with their patents.

During his visit to the event, the Director-General of WIPO, Kamil Idris examined each of the seven panels making up Think Time - Think Swiss Excellence at some length. Pointing out the extent to which this thematic exhibition highlighted the role of the organisation directed by him, he expressed a wish to be able to use the panels again, directly on the premises of WIPO in Geneva or on the occasion of decentralised seminars, for instance in Singapore.
