Commercial Baptism Of Fire In Brussels

Following its inauguration in Russia during a cultural event, the FH travelling exhibition was presented in a commercial setting for the first time in Brussels in October.

Under the aegis of the Promotional Affairs Department of the FH, Think Time - Think Swiss Excellence underwent its baptism of fire at a trade fair marking the second edition of TIME - The European Luxury Watch Exhibition, held in the Belgian capital from 10 to 12 October this year. With a view to providing the best possible shop window for the event's many visitors, the organisers of this event and a committee of exhibitors work together to select firms that will be presenting Swiss-made timepieces, combining richness and variety, and then direct potential customers to their nearest point of sale.

In addition to traditional means of communication used to attract visitors during normal opening times, personal invitations were sent out by exhibitors for a late-night opening on Friday 10 October from 8pm to 11pm that attracted more than 1200 people. Among the personalities who visited the event on Saturday 11 October were Prince Laurent of Belgium and the Swiss ambassador to Brussels Robert Mayor, accompanied by their wives.

In Brussels, as in St-Petersburg in July, the exhibition Think Time - Think Swiss Excellence drew numerous compliments from exhibitors, Swiss delegates present, the press and visitors alike for its attractive infrastructure and the modern interactive facilities it uses, as well as its playful and informative aspects. As well as giving visitors an insight into the purchase of a Swiss watch, time spent in front of the stand and questions put to the FH representative, concerning watchmaking trades for example, will no doubt provoke serious reflection among some young people and, it is to be hoped, encourage them to consider learning a trade in the industry.

A meeting has already been set up between the Promotional Affairs Department and the organisers to discuss participation by the FH at the 2004 edition, scheduled provisionally to take place from 8 to 10 October, with of course Think Time - Think Swiss Excellence in attendance. However, such participation could also include the presentation of a collection of pieces from a Swiss watchmaking museum.

As was the case this year, in 2004 TIME will again be held in the historic buildings of the Tour and Taxis Exhibition Center, occupying a hall in which the architecture has been put to marvellous use by the organisers to create an extremely welcoming atmosphere, featuring first rate facilities for services and logistics.
