Swiss watch manufacturer Breitling and British car maker Bentley have decided to form a new, 3-stage partnership.
The specialist in "instruments for professionals" has in fact been invited to participate in the design of the fascia panel of the new Bentley Continental GT. Its signature will thus feature prominently on the dashboard clock of this fabulous coupé. A first at Bentley! Breitling will also be joining Team Bentley at the 2003 Le Mans 24 Hours and will be producing an exclusive chronograph on behalf of the famous automotive marque.
This 3-stage partnership holds great promise, insofar as both companies have a consistent identity, based on performance, prestige, tradition and a commitment to innovation. The Breitling clock, housed in the centre of the wing-shaped fascia panel, constitutes the first stage of this collaboration. It is designed to blend in harmoniously with the highly stylized air vents and chrome fittings of the Continental GT's instruments. It is the first time that a watch company has made an appearance in the very traditional passenger compartment of a Bentley car.
The famous Le Mans 24 Hour race has a particular importance for Bentley, since it provides an opportunity to revisit past glories by reviving the memory of the legendary Bentley Boys, multiple winners of Le Mans at the end of the 1920s. In 2003, Breitling will be the main sponsor of Team Bentley and will take advantage of this particularly demanding environment to emphasize the qualities of performance and precision the company hold dear.
Last but not least, to underline the dynamism that characterizes this association, Breitling will be presenting a new chronograph at the Geneva Car Show next March. This chronograph, worn on the wrist, is the fruit of advanced research in design to reflect the unique styling of the Continental GT, particularly the characteristic knurled finish of the Bentley controls. "Powered" by an exclusive automatic movement and equipped with innovative functions, this chronograph promises to be as exceptional as the partenership that brought it into being.
