Audemars Piguet In pole Position With Montoya

On 24 June this year, Audemars Piguet announced a new sporting partnership: with the talented Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya.

"I am glad that Juan Pablo Montoya is now officially the wearer of an Audemars Piguet watch. He is a supporter of the brand and we are delighted to give him the official seal of approval. Luxury watchmaking and Formula 1 share fundamental values, such as daring and precision. That's why, in our quest for excellence, we decided to team up with Juan Pablo Montoya, whose star is in the ascendancy," said Georges-Henri Meylan, Managing Director of the Le Brassus firm (on the above photo).

Aged 27, Colombian national Juan Pablo Montoya has been a driver in the BMW Williams stable since 2001 and, in this role, has already competed in numerous international Grand Prix events. "Audemars Piguet is in pole position in the luxury watch sector, and that's why I enjoy wearing a Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph," he explained.

Audemars Piguet upholds a great tradition of sponsoring elite sportsmen and women and of promoting sport in general. Designing the Royal Oak back in 1972, the Joux Valley firm bucked the trend with a luxury steel watch, the first with a sporting vocation. Thirty years on, it remains the benchmark in this field. The sporting partnership with Juan Pablo Montoya is therefore the perfect complement to the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Royal Oak watch.
