The world tour of the exhibition to mark the 125th anniversary of Audemars Piguet ended in New York in October. On that occasion, Muhammad Ali and Arnold Schwarzenegger were the Honorary Co-Presidents of the very first auction sale of watches made by the Le Brassus factory and previously owned by famous personages. The Time to Give Celebrity Watch Auction took place at Christie’s on 23 October. The proceeds of this sale (1.5 million dollars) were donated to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Inner City Games Foundation and to the Muhammad Ali Center of Louisville (Kentucky).
The following celebrities attended this charity event: Giorgio Armani, Jon Bon Jovi, Terry Bradshaw, Mariah Carey, Cher, George Clooney, Natalie Cole, Billy Crystal, Tony Curtis, Calista Flochart, Whoopi Goldberg, Goldie Hawn, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Evander Holyfield, Anthony Hopkins, Ashley Judd, Chris Klein, Lisa Kudrow, Sophia Loren, Susan Lucci, Shaquille O’Neal, Herb Ritts, Kurt Russell, Susan Sarandon, Martin Sheen, Maria Shriver, Liz Smith, Sharon Stone, Emma Thompson, Uma Thurman, Sigourney Weaver, Robin Williams and Brian Wilson.
The Audemars Piguet factory also donated 1000 dollars to each of the celebrities present at the event, who handed this sum over to the charity of their personal choice.
