Gucci Takes Over Boucheron

The Schweizerhall pharmacology-chemical group has sold its Boucheron luxury products division to the Italian Gucci group, one of the leaders in the sector. The 1 July transaction will bring the Basel-based group an extraordinary profit of 250 million francs.

Schweizerhall had acquired the majority capital of the French perfume, jewellery and watch manufacturer in 1994, prior to acquiring all its shares last year. The Boucheron division realised a turnover of 184.7 million francs in 1999.
