The watch brand is pursuing its strategy of production integration in order to take full advantage of the synergies between its different businesses. With this in mind, it has just refurbished and extended the building it acquired in Saignelégier in 2009. This houses the finishing department, dedicated to manufacturing the dials and cases of its timepieces. The site has taken on a new dimension, expanding from 3,400 to 4,400sqm thanks to the addition of an extra floor.
By investing in this industrial facility, Bulgari is boosting its production capacity, developing the versatility and multi-skilling of its teams and optimising safety. A new area dedicated to Artmanship – a fusion of art and craftsmanship – has been created at the heart of the Manufacture. It is designed to meet market needs and demands. Artmanship dials, particularly in the Serpenti, Octo Finissimo and Bulgari Bulgari collections, as well as jewellery watches, are indeed experiencing a sharp rise in demand.
These dials, which require rare skills and artistic and artisanal techniques, now benefit from a workshop dedicated to hard stone marquetry, peacock feather marquetry, gemsetting and micro-painting. The existing spaces have been reorganised to improve the flow of people as well as ideas and thus the level of production excellence. This is a major challenge given that lacquered dials, which cannot tolerate the slightest dust, exist in proximity to hard stone mosaics.
The Manufacture d’Habillage is equipped with state-of-the-art production machinery, organised into workshops that can produce both medium- and low-volume runs. This setting also provides greater comfort for the 130 or so employees and reduces its impact on the environment. The 816 photovoltaic panels installed on the roof, façade and car park cover 25% of its electricity consumption.
