Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series

Maurice Lacroix announced its new partnership with the 2014 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series. Timing, technique, creativity, precision are all key elements in the pursuit of the ultimate, perfect dive from such extreme heights.

The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series is now in its sixth season and is the most prestigious cliff diving competition in the world, where only the very best athletes are invited to participate. In 2014, the World Series will consist of seven competitions, taking place over three continents.

Male divers take-off from a 27 metre high platform and female competitors from a height of 20 metres. An expert jury assess the dive and points are awarded based on complexity, take off, position in the air and entry into the water.

Huge crowds come to watch the world’s best divers participate in this extreme sport. The atmosphere is electric and there is an air of fun and excitement. In this rarefied world of extreme sport, the risks are obvious. Walking out on that platform, you rehearse your dive in your mind and conceptualise each phase in slow motion. In just three seconds, between take-off and entering the water, you will reach speeds of 85kph and experience forces of up to 5G. The risk of failure is too great to contemplate. There is little margin for error. Remember, as gravity grabs your body, keep your shape, your entry has to be precise.
