Time Fast Collection X The Dial Artist

The only Swiss Manufacture entirely dedicated to mechanical clocks, L’Epée 1839, unveils a new series of unique creations, reflecting its expertise and creativity, within the Creative Art line. Driven by a spirit of co-creation and innovation with partners, it pushes the boundaries of watchmaking by transforming clocks into truly kinetic mechanical sculptures.

The Time Fast collection is inspired by the golden age of motor racing and the legendary Formula 1 cars of the 1930s to 1960s. Each model features a Manufacture movement that follows the aerodynamic curves of the bodywork, incorporating a host of details. These include the three-spoke steering wheel for setting the time, stainless steel spoked wheels and the escapement placed under the driver’s helmet. The Time Fast watches come to life when the rear wheels are pushed backwards, evoking the nostalgic joy of childhood friction cars.

The Time Fast D8 was the first model in the collection and quickly became a brand icon. With its clean lines and understated elegance, it embodies the spirit of vintage racing with the time displayed as a race number. The Time Fast II takes the concept further, with two independent movements: one for displaying the time, the other for powering a miniature V8 engine. A functional gear lever allows one to choose the mode, while the ignition switch on the dashboard sets the pistons in motion.

After an initial collaboration celebrating street art, art bombing and graffiti, L’Epée 1839 and British artist Chris Alexander, aka The Dial Artist, have once again joined forces for a collection of entirely hand-painted clocks inspired by cars. The result is a series of unique creations that transform vehicles into moving sculptures through the language of graffiti, once confined to walls, trains and urban landscapes.

Building on his extensive experience in luxury miniature car modelling, Chris Alexander has perfected a series of exclusive techniques and processes over the years and applied a “Raced” patina effect, illustrating the race-weathered beauty of time’s impact on such objects.

L’Epée 1839 and Chris Alexander have thus sought to immerse themselves in the very essence of urban culture: a powerful crossroads where fashion, music, dance, language and lifestyle mingle with creativity, personal expression and cultural identity.
