COSC looks to the future

Three months after unveiling its new visual identity, the COSC is setting its sights on the future. The institution has forged links with key institutional partners such as the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, the Horological Society of New York and Geneva Watch Days. As part of this last event (4-7 September), COSC will host a chronometry challenge.

Forty participants – ranging from passionate amateurs to seasoned professionals – will each have one hour to fine-tune a Sellita movement, coached by students from the Geneva School of Watchmaking. The 40 movements will then undergo COSC’s full 15-day certification protocol: five positions, three temperatures, just like any client piece. The two winners – one from each category – will be those whose movements achieve the most precise average daily rate.

The COSC also announced the appointment of Sébastien Cretegny as the new President of the organisation. Renowned for his expertise in the watchmaking industry as well as his strong commitment to innovation and excellence, he fully embodies the core values of the COSC, whose mission he will guide with a resolutely forward-looking vision.

The institution is also working to achieve results that go beyond its certification basis (ISO 3159). This “Super COSC” will be unveiled by the end of the year.
