Rolex: Perpetual Arts Initiative

In its role as official partner, Rolex closely followed the latest Oscars ceremony that took place on 2 March at the Dolby Theatre in the Ovation Hollywood complex. This eagerly anticipated event was brodacst in more than 200 territories. Through its global influence, it celebrates excellence and achievement in the many filmmaking disciplines, from cinematography, screenwriting and directing to sound design and visual effects.

The Oscars also honour the global film community and individual members of the Academy. Surmounting the challenges involved in bringing a film to screen requires an ability to be innovative and to act with tenacity and conviction to ensure standards are not compromised. For any filmmaker who completes the journey, the holy grail is an Oscar: the prized statuette signalling the Academy’s respect.

Since 2016, Rolex has hosted the Oscars Greenroom, just off the main stage where presenters, nominees and winners relax as the show progresses. Every year, offers its guests a novel, immersive experience featuring high-quality decor.

ln 2025, the Greenroom’s theme is restoration of the natural world. lt is inspired by Rolex Perpetual Planet Initiative partners Rewilding Chile and Rewilding Argentina, which are offsprings of Tompkins Conservation, an acclaimed non-profit that protects and restores biodiversity. ln a reflection of its work, the room depicts the soft palettes and textures of landscapes devoid of fences. Instead, native species are returning to the wilderness and Nature is restoring their habitat.

Through its partnership with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences since 2017, Rolex provides the film industry with long-term support. Alongside its sponsorship of the Oscars, in 2018 Rolex became Exclusive Sponsor of the Governors Awards, which recognise lifetime achievement. The brand is a Founding Supporter and Official Watch of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. lt also supports the Student Academy Awards and the outreach programme Academy 100, which will help drive the future of the global film industry and the Academy.
