Ulysse Nardin présents the Diver Net Vendée Globe

Nicknamed “the Everest of the seas”, the Vendée Globe is undoubtedly the ultimate test of human endurance. On 10 November, around 40 skippers set sail from Les Sables d’Olonne in the Vendée for the tenth edition of this solo, non-stop, non-assisted round-the-world yacht race. As partner and official timekeeper of this legendary 45,000-kilometre event contested every four years, Ulysse Nardin launched its new Diver Net Vendée Globe, issued in a 300-piece limited edition.

This model is powered by self-winding Calibre UN-118 housed in a 44mm-diameter recycled steel case. Water-resistant to 300m, the watch has a 60-hour power reserve. It features a unidirectional rotating bezel and a sandblasted grey dial adorned with a red and blue X in the official Vendée Globe colours.

This timepiece is of course inspired by the race and the intrepid men and women who take part in it, as well as by the Manufacture’s vision: to design sustainable watches that highlight the fragility of the oceans and the impact of global warming. That’s exactly why so many recycled materials were integrated into the creation of the new Diver Net Vendée Globe. By way of example, fishing nets were used for the sides, lugs and back of the case, as well as the strap, while carbon fibre offcuts served in the production of monohull foils.
