Certina reinforces its long-term collaboration with the non-profit Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC) through a colourful timepiece, the DS Super PH1000M STC. Since 2017, the two Maisons have worked together to help protect sea turtles and their natural environments.
Inspired by the historic DS Super PH1000M from 1970, this eye-catching new timepiece features a fascinating blue dial with orange accents and luminous hour-markers. Its Powermatic 80 movement has an 80-hour power reserve and Nivachron balance spring.
Founded in 1959, Florida-based STC works to ensure the survival of sea turtles through research, information campaigns and practical measures designed to assist wounded or endangered animals. That same year Certina introduced the DS concept and its turtle symbol, meaning Certina and turtles have been together for 65 years now. In addition to financial support, the brand produces videos and content regarding STC projects, organises joint press events and makes use of special POS displays to raise awareness. Rising sea levels and water temperatures, plastic waste, beachfront construction and disorienting lighting combine to form a growing threat to the survival of the species.
As was the case with these earlier editions, a portion of the proceeds from sales of the new timepiece will go directly to the STC.
