The Nines and Swatch push the limits

Swatch partnered with The Nines, a major freestyle skiing and snowboarding event that took place in Crans-Montana (Valais) in April.

The Swiss watchmaker brought with it eight of its Proteam athletes, including locals Pat Burgener and Nico Vuignier, for a week of sporting talent, creativity and style.

The Swiss watchmaker thought big for its first involvement in The Nines. On the Plaine Morte glacier, at an altitude of 2,750 meters, a 100% natural snow obstacle was created that is as original as it is fun: a huge Swatch watch, with a dial measuring ten meters! It was enough to inspire the world’s best athletes, who set out into this freestyle paradise for the 30th edition of this extraordinary sporting event. Based on a unique and non-competitive format, The Nines is all about pushing the limits of feasibility in terms of freestyle sports and the designing of snow modules – to produce extremely creative content.

The Special Edition “The Nines” Swatch watch created for the event is signed by Nico Vuignier. This is an assignment that Swatch has entrusted to its ultracreative freestyle skier, to whom we owe the “Heatseeker” video. A special design with the spirit of The Nines is also available on the digital Swatch X You platform.
