Officine Panerai to the rescue of the oceans

The partnership will develop programmes and actions with the final objective of developing transformative solutions to the existing and future challenges that face the ocean. From 2021 to 2030, the Ocean Decade will promote science-based management of the ocean and marine resources to achieve the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Though the ocean is powerful and immense, it is also vulnerable to a multitude of environmental threats. To date, over 40% of the ocean’s surface is strongly affected by multiple factors, and 66% is estimated to sustain increasing cumulative impacts. The Decade will bring together expertise from a vast body of oceanographic disciplines and actors to move from the ocean we have to the ocean we want.

The aim is to invest, speak out and establish a path forward, embracing more responsible thinking and behaviour toward the ocean and its preservation, by developing educational and research initiatives, providing insight and knowledge as well as strengthening an active community.
