For many years, Reto Baumgartner had been collecting watches and had thus been able to study the ingenuity and refinement of these mechanical masterpieces.
Enthusiastic about techniques and precision, he decided to retrain professionally as a watchmaker. In 2015, he took the plunge and moved to Aarberg, in the canton of Bern. He gave up his previous position as financial director of a railway company to devote himself fully to his passion: watchmaking. Thanks to various further training courses at several institutes, he was able to deepen his knowledge and hence further professionalise his skills as a watchmaker.
On the strength of his new watchmaking experiences, Reto Baumgartner founded his own brand: RB Baumgartner. Individually crafted mechanical watches reflect the ambition of their creator and his entire team. Fascination, emotion and passion are the hallmarks of the eponymous collections.
All watches are designed, developed and assembled in the RB Baumgartner workshop in Aarberg. Reto is particularly inspired by the production of customised watches. Clients choose a model from one of the collections which is then converted into a one-of-a-kind creation based on their individual wishes. Thanks to these individual touches, the watches become exclusive. The company’s artisans also produce series with historical or refined movements.
In addition to its own creations, the Bernese company offers overhaul and restoration services for third-party brands. RB Baumgartner is certified as a repair centre for Rado, Tissot, Mido, Fortis, Longines, Certina, Balmain, Calvin Klein and Hamilton.
