Dubois Dépraz presents an integrated chronograph

On a symbolic level, 2019 is the year of the 50th anniversary of the famous Chronomatic/Calibre 11, developed by Dubois Dépraz and unveiled in 1969 by three major watch brands. To mark this milestone, the Manufacture based in the Vallée de Joux is expanding its offer by presenting its first integrated chronograph.

Having involved several years of development, the DD 540 calibre is also the result of more than a century of experience in the design, production and assembly of complicated movements, as well as chronographs that have become legendary.

Starting from a blank sheet of paper, Dubois Dépraz has chosen to infuse this chronograph with a strong personality. Endowed with a three-day power reserve, this in-house column-wheel calibre indicates the time measured by means of a central seconds hand and two concentric hands (hours/minutes) sweeping over a single counter. A demonstration of considerable technical mastery.

DD 540 movement: integrated column wheel, lateral clutch, automatic winding, 28,800 vph, 51 jewels, diameter 32.0 mm, thickness 6.60 mm.

Functions: hours/minutes/seconds, chronograph with concentric 12-hour/60-minute counter, flyback function, power-reserve indicator (72 hours), instant-jump date window.

At a time when differentiation is a key word for brands, Dubois Dépraz offers a new opportunity to stand out from the crowd. Building on its longstanding experience in perpetual calendars and having acquired perfect mastery in combining the annual calendar with other complications, the watch movement manufacturer now unveils a new extremely understated construction. The annual calendar is the heart of this complicated calibre, indicating only the date and month name in different forms.

Built on the basis of an ETA or Sellita movement, this very beautiful and useful complication may also be adapted on demand to in-house movements.

Additional mechanism DD 6000: a choice of two diameters (30.0 or 32.0 mm), thickness 4.90 mm (with ETA 2892A2/Sellita SW 300 base), date window, window- or aperture-type month indicator.
