At the Montreux Jazz Festival with Quincy Jones

Mathieu Jaton, Quincy Jones and François-Henry Bennahmias

As a global partner of the Montreux Jazz Festival alongside Accor-Hotel since the beginning of the year, Audemars Piguet celebrated the 53rd edition of the musical event (June 28th to July 13th 2019) with Quincy Jones, godfather of the festival and friend of the brand.

The closing evening was also the occasion to officially mark the beginning of this collaboration initiated in 2010 as part of the Montreux Jazz Digital Project.

The festivities kicked off with Quincy Jones’ line-up at the Stravinsky Auditorium. Seven distinguished guests, -M- (Matthieu Chedid), Ibrahim Maalouf, Jon Batiste, Gareth Daley, Lauren Jauregui, Jonah Nilsson and Sheléa, accompanied on stage by the Sinfonietta of Lausanne (conducted by John Clayton and Jules Buckley), performed the greatest hits produced, composed or arranged by the American artist in the 1980s.

François-Henry Bennahmias, CEO Audemars Piguet, and Mathieu Jaton, CEO Montreux Jazz Festival, continued the evening at Le Belvédère, an emblematic venue where artists usually meet after the concerts, with some 150 guests. On this occasion, the new life-size statue of the legendary composer was unveiled to the public. This bronze sculpture by Italian sculptor Marco Zeno will be placed in the gardens of the Fairmont Montreux Palace, instead of the existing bust of the artist. This creation truly honours Quincy Jones’ commitment to the world of music.
