Hublot follows la Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc

For the fourth year in a row, Hublot officiated as official timekeeper of La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc, one of the most spectacular, technical and diverse international sledge dog races worldwide.

It is in Megève, a ski resort boasting one of the most beautiful views over the Mont Blanc mountain – between alpine pasture and wide natural spaces – that the Manufacture has decided to celebrate its close ties with the alpine environment.

La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc, which took place from January 13th to 24th 2018, is a nonstandard sledge dog race, plunging the mushers into a wild and untamed territory. A true human and sporty adventure, this unusual experience requires an intense warm up and constant self-surpassing to face more than 600 kilometers of tracks and more than 22,000 meters of ascents.

This extreme adventure has inspired the Hublot brand to create a Special Edition watch. With only 100 pieces available, the Classic Fusion “La Grande Odyssée” features a satin-finished and polished titanium case sparkling like snow in the sunshine while recalling the purity of the large spaces covered by the mushers and their dogs. While the human adventure is symbolised by the counter’s wind rose, the first tool used by navigators to find their way depending on wind direction, this Special Edition also pays tribute to the canine athletes through the blue of the chronograph seconds hand, a reference to the eye colour traditionally associated with them. The strap – combining white rubber and vintage brown calfskin overstitched in white – is an ode to nature.
